This oil painting made from nature in the Hohenheimer Garden, Stuttgart.
Every spring I always look forward to the magnolia blossom. Enormous flowers with dizzying sweet scent look absolutely cosmic, either otherworldly. Dense and juicy petals seem made from paper, pure and smooth. Rotation of transparent cold shadows and warm sun lighted surfaces shapes the volume of flowers. For background, I used emerald green and azure blue colors. With wide strokes, I tried to preserve the feeling of vibrant air, spring wind, and sunspots on the tree brunches.
