For this painting I was inspired by a lemon on a dazzling white marble tabletop, under the bright Italian sun. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a sultry Italian noon, vibrating sunlight falling on the smoof marble surface and textured citrus peel. Luscious green leaves and deep ultramarine shadows matched a perfect contrast. The background made with wide strokes, but some areas left a white canvas. This intentional incompleteness emphasizes the spontaneity of the moment, snatched from nature.
The painting is made on particulous paper designed for oil paints, covered with varnish and ready for framing. It can be mounted to a backing board/cardboard with a small amount of water-soluble glue onto the four back corners. After it can be framed with a mat like a watercolor painting or without it, like an oil painting on canvas.
The painting is signed on the back.
