To create this watercolor I was inspired by amazingly beautiful white tulips with ragged edges petals. I love all unusual sorts of tulips. In Russia, I almost never seen such rare species, but in Germany, especially in the spring, flower shops delight with their amazing variety of tulips. The special charm of these flowers in their thick, succulent petals with deep veins, which form a textured fringe at the edges and give the tulip unique picturesque plasticity. Contrasting shiny dried fruits and nuts came in handy to emphasize the delicate texture of the flowers and make some tasty looking sense to still life. With pale green stems and leaves, all together weaved into a peculiar graphic pattern.
This measure of conditionality helps to avoid a literal realism, and remain within the framework of traditional painting technique.
