This small painting was made in mixed media technique using a liner and watercolors. I love working with line and contour, but rarely combine graphic with color. This stylized still life has become, in this sense, an exception to the rule. I wanted to play with composition and disperse the elements within the image. I borrowed this method from the applique and it may look quite decorative, but I was inspired by the process as well. I especially like the combination of yellow flowers and a Moroccan dark blue pattern on the ceramic bowl. Also, there is a yellow sponge in the middle of the composition hidden in flowers. All these objects were in the bathroom and were readily available art inspiration. My artistic aim was to preserve the visual impression but not to transfer objects to paper in a photographic sense.
